Reinforced thermoplastic pipes (RTP) is a generic term referring to a reliable high strength synthetic fiber (such as glass, aramid or carbon), which is a kind of high-pressure plastic compound pipe consisting of three layers. The outer layer can be white (on the ground against ultraviolet ray) or black (under the ground) based on needs; the intermediate layer is the reinforced tape compounded by the reinforced material, which may be polyester fiber or aramid fiber and so on. The pipes use many kinds of connection forms such as buckle joint, in-line coupling joint and flanged joint. The general application temperature of RTP is -42°C-+135°C, and the maximum operation pressure may reach 32MPa.RTP is mainly used for Oil & Gas applications.
Reinforced thermoplastic pipes are anticorrosive, high pressure resistance; provide heat resistance & thermal insulation, high transportability, abrasion performance, high flexibility, easy construction, small quantity of joints, high cost performance, safety and health, and long service. These all parameters are expected to drive the reinforced thermoplastic pipes market during the forecast period. In terms of volume, global reinforced thermoplastic pipes market in 2017 stood at 426.2 kilo tons and is expected to reach 536.2 kilo tons by 2025 growing at a CAGR of 4.0% from 2018 to 2025. In terms of revenue, global reinforced thermoplastic pipes market in 2017 stood at USD 5,463.7 Mn and is expected to reach USD 7,411.9 Mn by 2025 growing at a CAGR of 5.3% from 2018 to 2025.
On the basis of type reinforced thermoplastic pipes can be classified as non-metallic RTP, metallic RTP, and others.
Non-metallic reinforced thermoplastic pipes occupied larger market share as compared to Metallic reinforced thermoplastic pipes. While, Metallic reinforced thermoplastic pipes type is expected to grow at a faster growth rate during the forecast period. Major applications of reinforced thermoplastic pipes can be classified as oil flow lines, gas distribution networks, water injection lines, and others. Oil flow lines application held the major market share while water injection lines application is expected to grow at a fastest growth rate during the forecast period.
Region wise global reinforced thermoplastic pipes market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, and Middle East & Africa. North America held the largest market share followed by Europe and Asia Pacific respectively. Asia Pacific is expected to grow at a fastest growth rate followed by South America during the forecast period. The regions are further segmented to country level.
Some of the global major players operating in the reinforced thermoplastic pipes market include Technip, GE Oil & Gas, National Oilwell Varco, Shawcor (Flexpipe Systems), Airborne Oil & Gas, Wienerberger (Pipelife, Cosmoplast, Polyflow LLC, PES.TEC, Changchun GaoXiang Special pipe, and others
